    Photoentrainment is a process that depends on the activity of photosensitive proteins. Throughout the evolutionary process many different photosensitive proteins arose, but just a few have a role in photoentrainment. Therefore the purpose of this text is to exploit photoentrainment and the active photoreceptor proteins related to the process. The mechanism of action of photosensitive proteins will be emphasized, as well as the differences between visual and entrainment processes. In conclusion, it will be explained how the light/dark cycle is able to adjust circadian rhythms to the environmental 24 hours of the dayO arrastamento fótico é garantido pela ação de proteínas fotorreceptoras, que possuem propriedades muito particulares. Sendo assim, este texto tem como objetivo abordar o processo de arrastamento de osciladores circadianos pelo ciclo claro/escuro e descrever as proteínas fotorreceptoras que atuam neste processo. Será dada ênfase para as propriedades e mecanismos de ação destas proteínas e serão explicadas quais as diferenças entre os processos de formação de imagens por proteínas visuais e por proteínas “circadianas” capazes de ajustar os ritmos circadianos aos ciclos ambientais de 24 hora

    New segregates from the Neotropical genus Stryphnodendron (Leguminosae, Caesalpinioideae, mimosoid clade)

    Non-monophyly is a prominent issue in mimosoid legumes, even in some of the less speciose genera such as the neotropical genus Stryphnodendron. This genus includes 35 species occurring from Nicaragua to Southern Brazil mostly in humid forests and savannas. Previous taxonomic studies of Stryphnodendron have highlighted morphologically distinct groups within the genus, recognized by differences on leaves (number of pinnae and size of leaflets), inflorescences (a simple or compound thyrse), and fruit types (legume, nucoid legume or follicle). Recent phylogenetic analyses have confirmed the non-monophyly of Stryphnodendron, supporting the recognition of three independent and morphologically well-delimited genera. Here we re-circumscribe Stryphnodendron and propose the two new genera Gwilymia and Naiadendron. In addition, we also provide an updated taxonomic account of the closely related genus Microlobius, including the proposal of a lectotype for the single species in the genus

    KEGIATAN PENGABDIAN MASYARAKAT DI PULAU SAPARUA, MALUKU: PERSEPSI DAN PENGETAHUAN KADER TENTANG POS PEMBINAAN TERPADU PENYAKIT TIDAK MENULAR

    Peningkatan kasus penyakit tidak menular (PTM) telah menjadi salah satu masalah kesehatan masyarakat di Indonesia. Salah satu upaya pengendalian PTM dibangun berdasarkan komitmen dan keterlibatan masyarakat adalah melalui Pos Pembinaan Terpadu (Posbindu) PTM. Pada kenyatannya, pelaksanaan Posbindu PTM di Indonesia, masih menghadapi berbagai masalah, termasuk di Provinsi Maluku. Oleh karena itu, Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Pattimura melaksanakan kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat, bekerja sama dengan kader kesehatan dari kelima Puskesmas di Pulau Saparua, Kabupaten Maluku Tengah, Provinsi Maluku melakukan kegiatan pelatihan kader dalam rangka meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan kader dalam memberikan pelayanan Posbindu PTM Dasar di wilayah kerjanya. Pelatihan kader dilaksanakan di Pulau Saparua pada tanggal 15 November 2019, dihadiri 26 kader dari lima Puskesmas di Pulau Saparua. Evaluasi kegiatan pelatihan ini terdiri dari: (1) Evalasi kuantitatif dan (2) Evaluasi kualitatif. Dari evaluasi evaluasi kuantitatif yang dilakukan, tampak peningkatan yang signifikan dalam pengetahuan kader tentang Posbindu PTM, yang ditunjukkan dengan perbedaan persentase jawaban benar sebelum dan setelah dilakukannya pelatihan (p<0.001). Dari evaluasi kualitatif berupa diskusi kelompok dengan para kader, terlihat bahwa kader sangat menyambut baik pelaksanaan Posbindu PTM walaupun ada beberapa kendala yang ditengarai dapat menjadi faktor penghambat, termasuk keterbatasan sumber daya manusia terutama kader, kurangnya dukungan dari lintas sektor, terbatasnya pendanaan serta kondisi geografis yang cukup luas dan sulit. Hambatan ini penting untuk diperhatikan para pemangkukebijakan sehingga Posbindu PTM di Pulau Saparua dapat terlaksana dengan baik

    O artigo apresenta uma análise constitucional da função social do imóvel rural. A função social da propriedade rural está disciplinada no artigo 186 da Constituição Federal de 1988, onde o aproveitamento racional e adequado do imóvel rural foi considerado como elemento necessário à observância da função social que lhe deve ser inerente. O objetivo do estudo é analisar o instituto da propriedade rural sob o aspecto constitucional da sua função social, demonstrando a importância da propriedade produtiva para toda a coletividade. Quanto ao método de pesquisa utilizou-se a pesquisa bibliográfica e documental feita a partir do levantamento de referências teóricas já analisadas, e publicadas por meios escritos e eletrônicos, como livros, artigos científicos, páginas de web sites. A estrutura do artigo foi organizada em três capítulos. Inicialmente comentou-se o imóvel rural, suas características e classificação. Depois se abordou a produtividade social do imóvel rural. Por fim, estudou-se a função social da propriedade rural. Quanto ao problema de pesquisa definiu-se na seguinte formulação: Quais benefícios sociais podem ser alcançados com o cumprimento da função social da propriedade rural

    Renal tubular dysfunction in patients with American cutaneous leishmaniasis

    Renal dysfunction seen in patients with American cutaneous leishmaniasis (ACL) has been attributed to the use of antimonials for treatment. To determine whether ACL itself causes tubular dysfunction, we measured renal function in 37 patients with ACL prior to their treatment and compared results to that in 10 healthy volunteers of similar mean age. None of the patients presented with glomerular dysfunction; however, 27 had a urinary concentrating defect. There was no statistical difference between groups in the pre- and post-desmopressin test of urine osmolality, but the post-test urine osmolality of the controls was significantly higher. Urinary AQP2 levels, determined by western blot of isolated exosomes, were found to be significantly lower in patients than in controls, whereas that of the cotransporter (NKCC2) was significantly higher. A urinary acidification defect (post-test pH greater than 5.50 following calcium chloride) was found in 15 patients. Pretest plasma bicarbonate was below normal in 12 patients as was the pretest plasma pH in 14. Expression of the Na/H exchanger (NHE3), H+-ATPase, and pendrin were all significantly higher in patients with ACL than in controls. A combined urinary concentration and acidification defect was found in 12 patients. Thus, the urinary concentrating defect of ACL may be caused by decreased AQP2, with increased NKCC2 compensatory. Pendrin upregulation may be related to the urinary acidification defect with increased NHE3 and H+-ATPase also compensatory. Hence, ACL can cause asymptomatic renal tubular dysfunction

Recentemente o software Scratch vemganhando espaço em projetos escolares pela flexibilidade e benefícioscomprovados.
